Following on from Parts 1 and 2 I have just a few more long exposure shots that I wanted to share – for the moment at least, hopefully there will be plenty more to come from other trips out when time suffices. As with parts 1 and 2 all of these were taken with the Fujifilm X-E2.

These ones were taken a bit closer to home again. The first subject this time is a series of buildings which to be honest by day are a bit of an eyesore – and that’s being kind. As a result when I said to my wife that I was wanted to find somewhere I could taken photos of them at night her response was ‘Why?’ – and this was a fair question.

The buildings in question are a limestone quarry by Tinwell in Lincolnshire. All buildings as you would expect are purely functional with no thoughts to aesthetics. But by night the buildings are lit up and I think look quite good – hiding the dirt seen by daylight and giving them an almost surreal look.

This first one was taken from the south side of Collyweston:

The next two were taken from the East end of Tinwell on the slip road coming up from the A1. The first from this location the quarry I left deliberately zoomed out as I want to try to capture the remnants of the light in the night sky (this was taken soon after 21:00), but I also quite liked the silhouettes of the nearby tress.

This final one of the quarry I zoomed in a little closer to the quarry as the main subject again. In both this and the previous photo a car was driving past during the exposure so I ended with small accidental light trails.

I left the quarry after this and headed back to the A1 and went to the slip road over the A1 to the B1081. Looking North along the A1 this gave a view down to Stamford.

Not a lot to say about these as they were all from the same place (though with slightly different focal length at times), just slightly different settings, different amounts of cars – meaning some very different light levels – so some quite different results.

This one certainly wasn’t the first attempt, but it was the first one that had a decent number of cars coming past.

This one I was amazed how well lit the nearby greenery was – but of course this isn’t surprising when you can see how much light is passing by.

I quite liked the stark contrast of this one having no traffic approaching the camera.

Although this next one was a lot darker I found the clarity in the smaller number of light trails quite pleasing.

This one is probably my favourite of the light trails this time – with so many cars passing by it led to a bright road through the darkness.

This will probably be all I will do in the way of long exposure work for the moment, though it is something I would like to revisit to improve on what I have done so far.
